The focus of our program is to naturally support the mind/body connections to allow maximum innate human expression.
Humans are born with the most immature nervous systems of all mammals. As the brain starts to process the environment, the body starts to hardwire with the brain. Our experiences in life is dependent on these complex connections that all occur in the first year of life. It is the first connections that the brain and body make that will determine how effective the sensory system will work. This will set the stage for academic, behavior and emotional expressions.
Kids Rising Neurodevelopmental Program
Our program combines therapeutic nutrition, primitive reflex integration, neurosensory exercises, cranial-sacral/myofascial techniques and chiropractic together in order for children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders to achieve their maximum life potential. Our program is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure neurodevelopmental disorders; including that of autism. The focus of our program is to naturally support the mind/body connections to allow maximum innate human expression. Individuals presenting with neurodevelopmental disorders are known to have one or more of these systems operating at some level of dysfunction.
Dr. Becky takes into consideration the child’s neonatal development/environment, birth experience and their early health history as well as their current state of health. Common findings in these children in the first years of life may be: cranky, colicky, picky eaters, frequent gastro-intestinal upset, difficulty sleeping, frequent/chronic infections, asthma, allergies, etc. Because children have immature detoxification mechanisms, these toxins become trapped in the tissues; primarily of the gut and the brain causing continued chaos of the immune and nervous system. Approximately 80% of the immune system is housed in the gut and chronic inflammation in the gut leads to chronic inflammation of the entire body, including the brain.
Many children with sensory dysfunctions have their gas pedals pushed all the way in their nervous system which leads to poor “autonomic control” of their nervous system. This means that they are in “fight or flight” mode and have a difficult time shutting down. This in turn will continue to stress the adrenal glands and the immune system and lead to common ailments we see in this population group: asthma, allergies, eczema, chronic sinus/ear infections, etc. Chiropractic care is a vital cornerstone of treatment to help balance the “gas and brake pedal” of the nervous system and must be considered so that healing can begin.
Our program is dedicated to removing developmental “road blocks” such as spinal subluxations, persistent primitive reflexes and neurotoxins and replacing them with “brain building” processes such as neurointegrative exercises, neuromovement therapy, primitive reflex integration, and therapeutic nutrition.
Common conditions we work with are:
- Pervasive Developmental Disorders
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Learning Disorders/Dyslexia
- Developmental Delays: social, behavioral, and motor
- Cerebral Palsy
- Other Genetic and Traumatic affects
The planet that we live on has changed rapidly in the past 50 years. The world that we know today is toxic. We are walking around holding more toxins than previous generations. The soil from which our food grows is depleted and contaminated with pesticides and herbicides. Food production is focused in quantity and profit. The air we breathe is thick with heavy metals, particulates and ozone. The water we drink is chlorinated and chemically treated. Most of our food is genetically modified.
Our prenatal and birth practices have been contaminated with drugs, technology and fear.
With 1 in every 6 children affected with sensory dysfunction, there is hope. There is hope that their life’s expression can be enhanced. Functional expression is ok, but optimal is best. Here at Kids Rising! we can help you with choices.
Kids Rising! Program
Every child is unique and posses their own potential. After a full neurodevelopment and sensory evaluation your child will have a specific plan to address the following areas:
- Neurobiomechanical – Changing the structure (spine and cranium) to affect function
- Neurodevelopmental – Primitive reflex integration and specific movements to connect the brain and body
- Functional Nutrition – remove what harms, give what heals, supplement deficiencies.
The Perfect Storm
The Perfect Storm refers to the accumulation of certain events where the effects are magnified because of the co-factors. It is important to acknowledge that as many as 1 in 6 children have sensory processing dysfunctions. Possible insults include:
- Environmental (toxins, stress in the form of emotional, chemical, physical)
- Birth Trauma (c-section, artificial induction, dyscotia, interventions)
- Breech Presentation/Birth
- Genetics/Epigenetic Factors
- Reflex Immaturity
- Over activation of sympathetic nervous system
